May 23, 2024
Haywood Regional Medical Center announced today that Jason Woodbery, Director of Security and Telecommunications has been recognized as the facility’s 2024 Mercy Award winner. The Mercy Award recognizes one employee from each of Lifepoint Health’s facilities who profoundly touches the lives of others and best represents the spirit and values on which the company was founded.
Established in 2001, the Mercy Award is an annual recognition program that honors the life and contributions of Scott Mercy, Lifepoint’s founding chairman and chief executive officer. The award is considered the highest honor a Lifepoint employee can receive.
“At Haywood Regional Medical Center, our mission to positively impact community health relies heavily on the dedication of our team members – and Jason Woodbery is a shining example of this commitment,” said Chris Brown, R.T.-(R), RDMS, RVT, RDCS, RN, CPPS, CEO of Haywood Regional Medical Center. “Jason exemplifies the spirit of compassion and commitment that defines our organization. We are honored to recognize his unwavering dedication to our patients and community. His efforts consistently go above and beyond, making a significant difference in the lives of those we serve.”
Woodbery has been an integral part of the Haywood Regional Medical Center team throughout his long tenure with the hospital, having served the organization for nearly 30 years. Beyond his professional responsibilities, Jason embodies the spirit of mercy and compassion in everything he does. He is deeply committed to giving back to our community and tirelessly works to inspire others with his kindness, dedication, and merciful spirit. Whether it's lending a helping hand to those in need or offering words of encouragement to his colleagues, Jason's compassionate nature shines through in all aspects of his work and interactions.
Staff members, patients, and leaders have recognized Woodbery for his willingness to send security team members to sit with patients or families who need additional support, for being a champion and expert in incident command leadership, for working collaboratively with local law enforcement, and for teaching and empowering staff to feel safe while on duty in their respective departments – all while showing compassion and care for all individuals with whom he interacts.
Each Lifepoint facility’s local Mercy Award winner, including Woodbery, will be considered for Lifepoint’s 2024 companywide Mercy Award. The companywide winner will be announced this summer and honored during a ceremony in Nashville, TN, in August.
